Likely causes
- 1
Clogged fuel filter(s)— Most likely
Case IH Magnums have a primary bowl-type filter and a secondary spin-on. Replace both — they're cheap insurance and the most common cause of this code.
- 2
Failing lift pump— Possible
The electric lift pump on the fuel tank can wear or fail. You can often hear it prime when you turn the key — if it's silent, the pump has likely failed.
- 3
Air leak in fuel supply line— Possible
A cracked or loose fitting on the low-pressure supply side will cause intermittent pressure drops. Check all connections from the tank to the injection pump.
