Case IH Error Code TRANS 2055 — What It Means and How to Fix It
Applies to: Puma Series (115-240), Maxxum Series (110-150), Magnum Series with Full Powershift or CVT
Try cycling the key. If the tractor still won't move, check the wheel speed sensor connector on the transmission housing.
No Signal from Wheel Speed Sensor
The transmission controller is not receiving any signal from the wheel speed sensor. Without wheel speed data, the transmission cannot function correctly and will refuse to engage gears or move.

What to check first
- 1
Cycle the key — off for 60 seconds, restart. If the tractor moves normally, it was a momentary signal loss — monitor for recurrence.
- 2
Locate the wheel speed sensor on the transmission output shaft area and check the connector — disconnect, inspect, reconnect.
- 3
Check sensor wiring for damage where it runs near hot exhaust components or moving parts.
Likely causes
- 1
Loose or corroded connector— Most likely
DIYMost common cause. Clean and reconnect.
- 2
Failed wheel speed sensor— Possible
DIYTest resistance with multimeter (typically 800-1,200 ohms). 0 or infinite confirms failure.
- 3
Wiring damage (oil contamination, chafing, heat)— Possible
DIYTransmission area is hot and oily — wiring degrades faster here.
- 4
Sensor air gap too large— Less common
DIYIf the sensor has backed out of its mounting hole, the gap may be too large for reliable signal.
