$200-500

What to check first

  1. 1

Cycle the key — off for 30 seconds, restart. If the code clears and throttle works, monitor for recurrence

  2. 2

Check the throttle pedal connector — disconnect, look for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture, reconnect firmly

  3. 3

Trace the wire from the pedal to the harness — look for rodent damage, chafing near metal edges, or heat damage

Likely causes

  1. 1

Corroded or loose connector at throttle pedalMost likely

    DIY

On 5E series tractors, this connector is particularly exposed to moisture and mud splash from the operator platform.

  2. 2

Failed throttle position sensor (internal wear)Possible

    DIY

The potentiometer wiper wears over time. Replacement takes 15-30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Wiring damage (rodent damage, chafing)Possible

    DIY

Very common on farm equipment stored in barns where mice nest.

  4. 4

    Water/moisture ingress into connectorPossible

    DIY

Dry out with compressed air, apply dielectric grease to prevent recurrence.

  5. 5

    ECU connector issueLess common

    Shop

Rare. If cleaning/replacing the pedal sensor doesn't fix it, dealer diagnosis recommended.
