Likely causes
- 1
Low or degraded transmission fluid— Most likely
Check the fluid level and condition. MF Dyna-VT and DynaShift units are sensitive to fluid condition — dark or burnt-smelling fluid should be changed.
- 2
Faulty transmission solenoid valve— Possible
Each gear/range selection uses a solenoid-controlled valve. If one solenoid fails, that gear or range becomes unavailable. Diagnostic software pinpoints the failed solenoid.
- 3
Transmission control unit (TCU) fault— Possible
The TCU can develop faults, especially if the machine has had voltage spikes. Check for related ECU codes.
